Ossett Brewery, founded in 1998 by Bob Lawson in Ossett, West Yorkshire, is a respected independent brewer that began in a small brewpub behind The Brewers Pride and has since grown into a larger operation with its own pubs and national distribution, known for both classic and innovative ales. Its microbrewery arm, the Rat Brewery, located beneath the Rat & Ratchet pub in Huddersfield, was reinstated in 2011 and has gained fame for rodent-themed experimental beers such as “White Rat,” some of which have become part of Ossett’s core range.
